This is the question all patients ask before undergoing dental implant surgery: "Does it hurt?" The short answer is no at least, not during the procedure. Here's what you really need to know about pain and implantology at Clinique Dentaire Longchamp.
Dental implant placement is performed under local anesthesia. The dentist numbs the area before any procedure. You will not feel any pain during the surgery. At most, you may feel pressure or vibrations, but no pain.
For particularly anxious patients, we also offer conscious sedation, which will allow you to remain relaxed throughout the procedure.
In the 24 to 72 hours following the placement, it is normal to experience mild to moderate pain, similar to that of a tooth extraction. This pain is perfectly manageable with standard pain relievers (ibuprofen, paracetamol) prescribed by your dentist.
Slight swelling and bruising may also occur, but these usually disappear within 3 to 5 days.
"I was very scared, but in the end, I didn't feel a thing during the procedure. The next day, I just had a little swelling, nothing like what I imagined." Nadia B., patient
"Dr. Chafika was incredibly reassuring. She explained each step to me, and I was able to completely relax. Five implants placed, and I recommend her 100%." Youssef K., patient
