Have you just had dental veneers fitted and want to keep them as long as possible? With the right care, your ceramic veneers can last 15 to 20 years. Our experts at the Longchamp Dental Clinic in Casablanca share their essential advice.
Even though ceramic veneers are stain-resistant, the teeth and surrounding gums must be meticulously cared for. Brushing two to three times a day with a soft toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste is essential.
Using dental floss daily is highly recommended to clean between your teeth without damaging the edges of the veneers.
Very hard foods: avoid biting directly into very hard foods (bones, ice cubes, whole raw carrots) with the teeth that have veneers.
Teeth staining: Coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco can dull composite veneers over time. Ceramic veneers are more resistant, but moderation is still advised.
Bruxism: If you grind your teeth at night (bruxism), wear a mouthguard provided by your dentist. Bruxism is one of the main causes of veneer fractures.
Alcohol: Over time, alcohol can weaken the bond between the veneer and the tooth. Consume in moderation.
Schedule a check-up every 6 months at Clinique Dentaire Longchamp. Our practitioners will check the integrity of the veneers, the condition of your gums, and perform a professional cleaning if necessary.
If a veneer comes loose or fractures, consult a dentist immediately. In most cases, a detached veneer can be easily reattached if it is not damaged. If it is fractured, your dentist will assess whether it can be repaired or needs to be replaced.
